BGB Fantasy League 2017: Week 20

Another team has secured their place in the BaseballGB Fantasy League playoffs. With just two weeks left of the regular season, six places are still up for grabs.

Norwich booked their playoff place in style, falling a steal shy of a clean sweep against the Bombers. Sanchez hit four homers, knocked in 10 and also hit Miggy Cabrera (although you don’t get any points for that in this league). Hosmer batted .450 and Yelich scored eight runs.

Gausman picked up a win without allowing an earned run and helped take WHIP, while Duffy struck out seven and Diaz and Devenski took care of saves and holds. Rosario was one of three players with a steal for the Bombers, who also had five homers and 13 RBIs from Hoskins, who looks like a great pickup.

The Maltsters booked their playoff place last week but showed no signs of slowing down, defeating Iron Men 9-2. Ozuna scored six runs, homered four times and drove in nine while Pomeranz won without allowing an earned run and made the difference in whip.

Kluber and Rodriguez each struck out 12 while Osuna had two saves and Nicasio collected a pair of holds. Avila and Rendon (who also stole two bases) helped salvage average for Iron men while Giles and Greene had two saves each.

Batteries Essential needed a big win to boost their playoff hopes and got just that against the Slugs. Six players had multi-homer weeks, including four from JD Martinez, who also scored five runs and knocked in eight. Dickerson hit .500 for the week.

Corbin picked up a win without allowing an earned run, Fiers helped take WHIP and Neshek had two holds. Archer struck out 18 for the Slugs, while Nelson and Lackey also had double-digit Ks. Colome and Treinen had three saves each while Trout and Souza swiped two bases each.

Beckenham enjoyed a 9-3 success against Jesmond, who once again failed to reach the 20-inning minimum limit and forfeited the pitching categories. Buxton’s monster Sunday rounded off a great week which saw him score nine runs, hit five homers and drive in 10. Rodney had five saves while Rodon struck out 13. Cespedes was hitting .727 for the week until his injury, which helped Jesmond salvage average and OPS while Bregman was one of three players with a steal.

Newcastle Knights 31 15 32 2 .243 .805 2 3 63 4 3.55 1.32 8

The Knights defeated the Isotopes 8-3 thanks to an offensive sweep. Once again, that man Stanton was a one-man wrecking crew, batting .448 with eight runs, five homers and 11 RBIs. Roark struck out nine and Givens and Bradley had two holds each. Walker was one of five pitchers with a win and also helped take ERA and WHIP.

The Sox caused an upset by defeating the RBIs 7-4. Dee Gordon scored seven runs and stole three bases, McCann knocked in five and Jones hit a pair of homers. Davies and Hill each racked up double-digit strikeouts and helped take ERA and WHIP, which is no surprise considering Hill’s agonising defeat against the Pirates. Reddick hit .522 for the week and helped take OPS while Tanaka won twice and Rivero and Dyson each collected a pair of saves.

Finally, the Riverkings upset the form book with a 6-5 win against the Chasers. Machado, Calhoun and Weiters each scored five runs while Inciarte and Baez helped take average. Arrieta and Mad Bum helped take ERA and WHIP while Gray struck out 13 and Jansen was one of three relievers with a save. Lindor smacked four homers for the Chasers while Goldschmidt knocked in eight and Dozier stole three bases. Doolittle and Kahnle had a hold each.

Two weeks to go

There are just a pair of regular season matchups to go until the playoffs begin, and there are a number of contests between teams next to each other in the standings this week. It could be a big week.

MLB This Week: September approaching

Can you believe we’re almost into the final month of the MLB regular season?

There’s still plenty to be played for, even for teams that are out of the running for a play-off place.

Rhys Hoskins’ home-run exploits for the Phillies are a great example and we can watch Philadelphia take on the Braves for free in the MLB.com Free Game on Wednesday from 18.05 BST.

Other pre-midnight BST games that catch the eye are early contests between the Indians and Yankees, Cardinals and Brewers, Mariners and Orioles, Marlins and Nationals (all on Wednesday) and the Dodgers and D-Backs (Thursday).

Friday is a rarity with two early games on offer. We quite regularly get to enjoy a game from Wrigley Field to start the weekend, and the Cubs host the Braves on BT Sport/ESPN this week, but we also get a Cleveland-Detroit early game too as part of a Friday double-header for those clubs.

All times are in BST.

MLB Sleepyhead Summary: Stanton slugging Marlins into Wild Card contention

The MLB Sleepyhead Summary is a new regular column that helps British baseball fans keep up to speed with MLB despite the time difference!

Things have rarely been dull in Miami during the period of Jeffrey Loria’s ownership of the Marlins. He’s a controversial figure, put politely, and few will be too sad to see him leave when the sale of the club to a new ownership group formally goes through later this year.

However, the team won a World Series in his first year and they’re making a run to get to the post-season for his final year too.

Giancarlo Stanton hit his 50th home run of the season on Sunday as the Marlins completed a 3-0 sweep of the San Diego Padres to put them 4.5 games behind for the second NL Wild Card. That’s still a fair gap to make up, but it’s certainly possible with a month of games still to be played.

Arizona now have a 1.5 game lead over Colorado for the first Wild Card spot after they swept a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants. The first two games were close one-run affairs and the third game was going that way too until the D-Backs exploded for nine runs in the eighth inning on their way to an impressive 11-0 victory. The Rockies held their Wild Card spot with a 2-1 series win over Atlanta.

The Milwaukee Brewers had a good weekend as they became the first team since early June to get the better of the LA Dodgers in a series. Jimmy Nelson took a no-hitter into the sixth inning of Sunday’s game as the Brew Crew prevailed 3-2 over the returning Yu Darvish and took the series 2-1.

That came at a good time for Milwaukee as the NL Central-leading Chicago Cubs lost a series 2-1 to Philadelphia, Rhys Hoskins homering in his fifth consecutive game for the Phillies to make it 11 long-balls in his first 18 MLB games, which puts the Brewers just two games behind the Cubs. The Cardinals lost their weekend series against Tampa Bay 1-2, whilst Pittsburgh just about kept their hopes alive by winning two of three in Cincinnati.

In the American League, the Baltimore Orioles had a great weekend in Boston. After thumping the Red Sox 16-3 in the series opener, they took the following two games as well (a combined score of 25-4) to put themselves just two games behind the Twins for the second Wild Card. Minnesota won their weekend series against Toronto 2-1 with Byron Buxton hitting three home runs in the decider on Sunday.

The Yankees have a 3.5 game lead over Minnesota for the first AL Wild Card as they recovered from losing their series opener against Seattle by winning the following two games, Sunday’s including five first-inning errors by the M’s (three by Jean Segura alone). The Wild Card isn’t the Yankees only focus though.  Baltimore’s wins over Boston helped out the New York Yankees as they are now just 2.5 games behind the Red Sox in the AL East.

It wasn’t such a good weekend for the Angels, Royals and Rangers. The Angels lost their series against Houston 1-2, whilst both the Royals and Rangers were swept in three-game series. Texas lost three to Oakland in a series they would have expected to enjoy, yet Kansas City’s losses may have been just as painful. Although Cleveland were always going to be a tough opponent, the Royals failed to score a single run across the three games.

This week

Miami’s play-off credentials will be firmly tested as they head to Washington for a three-game series starting on Monday. Arizona are hosting the LA Dodgers hoping they can follow the Brewers’ lead in winning a series against the best team in the Majors.

It could be an important week in the NL Central as the contending teams are coming together, with Milwaukee hosting St Louis and Pittsburgh heading to Wrigley Field to face the Cubs.

In the American League, Baltimore will look to keep their good form going with a three-game series at home against the Mariners. Boston will hope to end their four-game losing streak against Toronto with the Blue Jays probably needing a sweep to keep an outside chance of getting back into it in September. The Yankees will see if they can gain even further ground in the AL East by earning some wins against Cleveland.

The Twins match up against the White Sox once again after a five-game series last week, the Angels are hosting the A’s and Tampa Bay and Kansas City collide with both needing wins to jump some of the teams ahead of them in the Wild Card race.

Finally, the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros will play an emotional three-game series. The devastation caused by Storm Harvey has meant that the series will be moved from Houston. Originally it was thought they would swap it to Texas (Arlington), but the latest news is that it may move to Tampa Bay instead. Clearly, there are difficult logistical problems involved for Houston home games in the immediate near future, yet in the greater scheme of things they seem inconsequential.

MLB Sleepyhead Summary: Dodgers hit 90

The MLB Sleepyhead Summary is a new regular column that helps British baseball fans keep up to speed with MLB despite the time difference!

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ victory on Thursday meant that they not only became the first team in the Majors to get to 90 wins in 2017, but they also reached that mark more quickly than any team in the club’s long history.

The Dodgers took three games out of four against the Pittsburgh Pirates and the one they lost was an epic on Wednesday, with Rich Hill pitching 9+ no-hit innings and then being handed a loss.

The tough series has put the Pirates 8.5 games out in the NL Wild Card and there were 1-2 losing series for fellow challengers Milwaukee (versus San Francisco) and St Louis (versus San Diego). The Cardinals had further bullpen issues on the field and even worse off it, with Trevor Rosenthal confirmed as requiring Tommy John elbow surgery.

That made for a good few days for the Chicago Cubs as they took two from three against Cincinnati to give themselves a 3 game lead over the Brewers in the NL Central.

Arizona have a half-game lead for the first Wild Card after splitting a four-game series against the Mets. Robbie Ray made a successful return on Thursday from a DL stint, but there was more bad news for the Mets in the same game as Michael Conforto dislocated his shoulder whilst swinging his bat.

The Rockies are still in second place despite losing two of three against Kansas City. They have a 3.5 game lead over Milwaukee, 5 over St Louis and then 5.5 over the Miami Marlins. Giancarlo Stanton continues to cause major damage at the plate, belting his 47th home run of the season on Thursday.

In the American League, the recently-hot Minnesota Twins hoped to continue their winning ways by flat-track-bullying the Chicago White Sox in a five-game series. It didn’t turn out that way as Chicago edged the series 3-2, but the Twins have still held onto the second Wild Card spot for now.

The Royals, Mariners, Orioles, Rays and Yankees all won their respective series 2-1, with the Yankees now having a 3.5 game lead for the first Wild Card spot and showing they are firmly up for the fight during a fraught Thursday game against Detroit that included three bench-clearing brawls.

The winners on the week were Texas as they got the better of the Angels 3-1, whilst Anaheim suffered another loss with starting pitcher JC Ramirez being placed on the DL with an elbow injury.

The results put the Royals, Angels and Mariners half a game behind the Twins for the second Wild Card, with Texas 1 game back, the Rays and Orioles 3 games back and Toronto barely holding on at 5.

Elsewhere, the Cleveland-Boston series lived up to expectations as the two teams played a close contest and shared two wins apiece. Most notable perhaps was the fourth game and the Indians knocking Chris Sale around for the second time in August.

This weekend

In the National League, the Cubs will look to pad their Central lead with a three-game series in Philadelphia, whilst St Louis are hosting the Rays and the Brewers have the tough task of taking on the Dodgers. Yu Darvish may be back on the mound on Sunday after a DL stint, with Clayton Kershaw scheduled to make his latest rehab start in Triple-A on Saturday.

Colorado are in Atlanta for three games, with Arizona hosting the Giants and Miami hosting the Padres.

As for the American League, there are some very interesting match-ups involving the Wild Card hopefuls. The Mariners and Yankees will square off in New York (Sonny Gray and Masahiro Tanaka currently scheduled to pitch on Saturday and Sunday respectively), with the Twins heading to Toronto in a series that could either help the Blue Jays get back into the race, or knock them out of it.

Meanwhile three other teams are facing the leaders of their own division: the Angels against the Astros, the Royals against the Indians and the Orioles against the Red Sox. The team that may fancy their chances of gaining further ground are the Texas Rangers as they take on the Oakland A’s.

MLB Sleepyhead Summary: Twins = Wins

The MLB Sleepyhead Summary is a new regular column that helps British baseball fans keep up to speed with MLB despite the time difference!

The Minnesota Twins started last season by losing their first nine games.

An 0-9 start isn’t much fun for anyone, but when you have the word ‘wins’ in your nickname, you’re going to hear about it even more than most.

They briefly responded to the jeers by reeling off four consecutive wins, but that’s where the comeback ended. 2016 was a miserable year for Minnesota as the team ended up with a 59-103 record, the worst in all of MLB.

Unsurprisingly, expectations were not exactly high for the Twins to mount a play-off challenge in 2017, yet they continue to confound the naysayers as we head into the last two weeks of August.

The Twins have won 11 of their last 13 games, including a sweep over the Arizona Diamondbacks this past weekend (Sunday’s win driven by a nine-run first inning), to draw themselves level with the LA Angels for the second Wild Card spot. Baseball Prospectus currently gives them a 33.4% chance of making it to the post-season, which would be a fantastic story if they can pull it off.

Minnesota have a chance to earn some wins this week at the expense of the AL’s worst team. They have a five-game series away to the Chicago White Sox, beginning with a double-header on Monday, and if they can build on their 7-4 season record so far this season against the Sox they could start to win over even more of the non-believers.

More AL Wild Card shuffling

The Angels beat Wild Card rivals the Baltimore Orioles 2-1 in this weekend’s series, with the Orioles’ sole win being powered by the outstanding individual player performance of the weekend. Manny Machado launched three home-runs, the final one being the small matter of a walk-off grand slam, in a thrilling 9-7 victory.

The Angels move on to a four-game series against rivals the Texas Rangers, whilst the Orioles look to gain back some ground in a home series against the Oakland A’s.

Elsewhere in the AL, the Boston Red Sox – fresh off a series victory against the New York Yankees – have a potential play-off preview four-game series against the Cleveland Indians, whilst those Yankees have a three-game set against Detroit.

Seattle and Kansas City will both look to gain ground in the AL Wild Card race by picking up some wins against National League opposition. The Mariners continue their road trip with a visit to Atlanta, whilst the Royals are hosting the Rockies for three games starting on Tuesday.

NL Central race may also become part of the NL Wild Card race

In the National League, the Pittsburgh Pirates have the tough task of facing the LA Dodgers four times across Monday to Thursday. The Buccos are now six games back in the NL Central having recovered from a six-game losing streak to win the final two games of their series against the St Louis Cardinals. They need to keep on picking up some wins and that’s not something any team has found easy against the Dodgers this season.

The Cubs and Reds split a four-game series last week and meet up again, this time in Cincinnati, for another three games from Tuesday to Thursday. Meanwhile the Cardinals are hosting the Padres for three games at Busch Stadium and the Milwaukee Brewers are in San Francisco taking on the Giants.

The Brew Crew won two of three at Coors Field against the Colorado Rockies this past weekend and, coupled with the Twins’ sweep of the D-Backs, the play-off picture in the National League is potentially changing. Whereas even just a week ago it looked like the NL Central teams were battling for one play-off spot, Arizona now only has a 2.5 game gap over Milwaukee for the second Wild Card, with the Rockies one game further ahead.

This means that although the Cubs earned back a small gap at the top of the NL Central thanks to their weekend sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays, the Brewers, Cardinals and possibly even the Pirates might have a second chance at making the post-season aside from clawing back the gap at the top of their own division.

MLB This Week: Monday to Thursday

There are chances to catch some live baseball at a convenient time from Monday to Thursday this working week.

The two early games across Monday and Tuesday are part of double-headers from Chicago and Philadelphia.

Wednesday’s games include Wild Card hopefuls the Baltimore Orioles hosting the Oakland A’s, and the NL Central-chasing Milwaukee Brewers facing the Giants at AT&T Park.

There are six early games scheduled for Thursday and some good ones in prospect among them, not least an inter-league match-up between the Rockies and Royals and a chance to catch the white-hot Dodgers as they take on the Pirates at PNC Park.

BT Sport are showing a couple of the games live whilst also dedicating time to the Little League World Series and three of the games are also available to watch for free on MLB.com.

MLB Sleepyhead Summary: Yankees sweep whilst the Rangers keep winning

The MLB Sleepyhead Summary is a new regular column that helps British baseball fans keep up to speed with MLB despite the time difference!

Yankees sweeping up New York

The New York Yankees have had to sit back and take the jibes over the past few seasons as the New York Mets got to a World Series in 2015 and became the team everyone was talking about in the Big Apple.

That must have made this week’s Subway Series sweep all the more satisfying.

The Yankees won all four games against the Mets in one of the weird inter-league series that has two games at one venue, followed straight away by two games at the other. It makes more sense in a single-city match-up than it does when the Arizona Diamondbacks and Houston Astros are paired together, as happened this week, at least.

That sets up this weekend’s series against the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium perfectly, with the Red Sox leading the AL West by four games after defeating the St Louis Cardinals twice (victories including a triple-play and a three-run rally in the ninth inning).

You would be forgiven for assuming that the third game will be the ESPN Sunday Night contest, but they will be showing the Cardinals-Pirates game from the Williamsport Little League site, so instead we can catch the game at 18.30 BST. Sonny Gray, who got his first win in pinstripes on Tuesday, and Doug Fister are the probable pitchers for Sunday.

Rangers making a run for it

The team that’s really on the march right now is the Texas Rangers.

They’ve won 11 of their last 13 games, including a three-game sweep over Detroit and defeating the Chicago White Sox on Thursday in the first game of a four-game series.  The White Sox have lost their last five games and have the worst win-loss record in the American League, 45-73, so it’s a prime opportunity for the Rangers to continue their climb towards an American League Wild Card.

Whilst the Yankees have a 3.5 game gap for the top Wild Card, the rest of the group is very closely bunched, with the LA Angels currently holding the second spot and then seven teams sitting within three games of the Halos.

WC – NY Yankees (65-55) 3.5
WC – LA Angels (62-59) –
Kansas City (61-59) 0.5 Games Back
Minnesota (60-59) 1
Seattle (61-61) 1.5
Texas (60-60) 1.5
Tampa Bay (60-63) 3
Baltimore (59-62) 3
Toronto (59-62) 3

To illustrate how close it is, the Baltimore Orioles currently have five teams ahead of them before they get to the Angels, but if they can sweep their three-game series against LA this weekend they’ll have the same record as the team currently holding the second Wild Card. The Mariners have a chance to climb as they take on the out-of-form Tampa Bay Rays this weekend, whilst Kansas City and taking on the AL Central-leading Cleveland Indians.

The Toronto Blue Jays are still in with a shout of an AL Wild Card despite their terrible start to the season and they go into their weekend inter-league series against the Chicago Cubs on the back of winning three of four against the Rays.

NL Central remains close

As for the Cubs, they split a four-game series with the Cincinnati Reds this week, losing the final game 13-10 despite slugging six home runs. Jon Lester had a day to forget, giving up nine runs in 1.2 innings before leaving the game with an injury. All three games against the Blue Jays at Wrigley Field are 19.20 BST starts. Friday’s game should see Jake Arrieta and J.A. Happ on the mound.

The Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates last night in the first of an important four-game series. The Pirates have now lost five in a row, including both games of a short two-game series against Milwaukee on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Cubs now hold a one-game lead over the Cardinals, and a 1.5 game lead over Milwaukee in the NL Central. The Pirates have slipped to 5.5 games back and whilst there’s still plenty of games left to play, getting some wins back against the Cardinals this weekend will be crucial to avoid the gap increasing.

Milwaukee have bounced back from an indffierent spell coming out of the All-Star break. They’ve won four in a row heading into this weekend’s series in Colorado against the Rockies.

BGB Fantasy League 2017: Week 18

There are just four week left of the regular fantasy season. Which BaseballGB teams are looking good are which are launching a late run for that all-important final place?

Weston-Super-Sox 26 8 24 2 .273 .781 3 0 31 1 5.08 1.69 2

Norwich cut into the lead at the top with a 10-2 win against the Sox. Bellinger scored seven runs, had a steal and was one of three players with multi-homer weeks while Bryant hit a ridiculous .609 (no, that’s not a  typo) for the week to unsurprisingly make the difference in average and OPS. Nola had eight strikeouts and combined with Stroman to take ERA and WHIP.

Diaz and Devenski took care of saves and holds. Keuchel made the difference in wins for the Sox while Adam Jones knocked in eight runs.

The Isotopes took advantage of Jesmond’s failure to meet the 20-inning minimum limit with a 9-3 win. Moustakas scored seven runs while Cruz (10 RBIs) and Conforto each hit four homers. Wood was the pick of the pitchers in another rough week.

The RBIs edged past the Riverkings 6-5 in a tight contest. Suffering injuries to Contreras and Harper didn’t help, but Carpenter scored seven runs and knocked in six, Lamb homered twice and Segura helped take OPS and stole two bases. Bridwell and Porcello each picked up wins. Healy hit .350 for the Riverkings while Bumganer helped take ERA and WHIP, Santana struck out 12 and Jansen had four saves.

But they were both outdone by Stanton, who belted six homers and knocked in 11 to go with his eight runs. Dickey, Verlander, Salazar and Peacock helped take ERA. Martinez won twice and helped take ERA and WHIP while Lorenzen had three holds. Kinsler scored six runs and knocked in four for Batteries Essential and Hamilton swiped five bases. Bauer struck out nine while Neris and Bedrosian had two saves each.

The stretch run

Just four regular season matchups to go and the race for a top eight place is still very much on. Gaining a couple of category wins a week could be enough to catch the team in 8th, so we’ll see which teams give it all they’ve got.

Sleepyhead Summary: Red on the Rise

It’s been a good few days for teams in red.

The St Louis Cardinals did have their eight-game winning streak snapped by Atlanta on Sunday, but their run of wins has seen them leap up the NL Central standings and firmly back in contention for the division title. The Chicago Cubs now have just a one-game lead over the Redbirds, with Milwaukee and Pittsburgh still in the hunt too.

The LA Angels have also been winning in red and they delivered a blow to their AL West, and Wild Card, rivals the Seattle Mariners by sweeping their four-game series at Safeco Field. The Angels have a six-game winning streak going and have gone from being sixth in the Wild Card race last Sunday to holding the second Wild Card spot one week later.

The New York Yankees are still in the first AL Wild Card spot, although they’ve fallen an extra 2.5 games behind Boston at the top of the AL East standings over the past week, in part due to the Red Sox’s play against them this past weekend.  The Red Sox have won ten of their last eleven games.  Cleveland have also slightly padded their AL Central lead, increasing their gap by two games to 4.5 over Minnesota.

The LA Dodgers and Washington Nationals have also both increased their healthy leads in the NL West and East divisions respectively, although this is the only context in which the word healthy applies to the Nats. Thankfully the damage done to Bryce Harper following a slip on a wet first-base bag is not as bad as it looked, but he’s still likely to be out for several weeks.

The Colorado Rockies are also breathing a sigh of relief after the initial scan results of Nolan Arrenado’s hand were positive after he was hit by a pitch on Sunday. A broken bone in that area usually costs a player six weeks and that would have put the star third baseman out of action for the rest of the regular season, but it looks like it’s just going to be a bit sore for a few days.

The Rockies didn’t have any other luck this weekend as they were swept by the Miami Marlins. Giancarlo Stanton is on an absolute tear at the plate: he’s homered in four consecutive games and has 21 in his last 33 games to put him seven clear of Aaron Judge at the top of the MLB home run list with 42.

The Marlins are 8.5 games behind the Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks, who are tied for the two Wild Card races on 65-52 records, but if Stanton can keep on slugging at this rate then he should make it fun at least.

What’s coming up

The St Louis Cardinals have yet another big week in store as they start out with two inter-league games in Boston on Tuesday and Wednesday before heading to Pittsburgh to start a series against their NL Central rivals on Thursday.

The Pirates meanwhile are in Milwaukee for three games to open this week. The Brewers always looked like a team that would be jumped by better clubs at some point and that’s starting to happen, but if they could sweep this series then that will at least keep their hopes up. The series finale on Wednesday is a 19.20 BST start and should see Gerrit Cole and Jimmy Nelson on the mound.

The Chicago Cubs are facing the Cincinnati Reds and they hold a 6-3 season series record against them.

Elsewhere among the National League play-off hopefuls, the Dodgers are in inter-league play against the Chicago White Sox (which might not be a lot of fun for the White Sox), Arizona are facing a somewhat-scuffling Houston Astros (Colin McHugh and Zack Greinke start it out in the first game of the series) whilst the Colorado Rockies are taking on the Atlanta Braves.

Monday’s game from that series should offer a strong contender for feel-good story of the week as the Rockies’ starter is scheduled to be Chad Bettis, making his season debut after undergoing surgery and chemotherapy for testicular cancer.

Inter-league match-ups will also be important for AL play-off hopefuls too. The LA Angels are in Washington taking on the Nationals, whilst the New York Yankees have a four-game home/road split Subway Series against the Mets.

Wild Card chasers Baltimore and Seattle are facing each other, the Rays are taking on the Blue Jays and there’s an AL Central battle between the Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians, with the latest Bartolo Colon appearance likely to come on Tuesday.
