An effort in Patterson, California, to recall council member Sheree Lustgarten from her position was launched in July 2015.[1] The recall effort was paused on December 2, 2015, as the city pursued legal action to remove Lustgarten from office.[2] On May 20, 2016, the Patterson City Council vacated Lustgarten's seat.[3]
Recall supporters
Lustgarten was targeted for recall over alleged aggression towards and intimidation of seniors at a senior center while working as part of a senior meals task force.[1]

Supporters needed at least 1,790 signatures from city residents to move the recall forward. A recall petition was approved for circulation by the city on September 10, 2015. Organizers had until December 10, 2015, to submit valid signatures. The collection of signatures was suspended in early December 2015 as a lawsuit seeking her removal was filed. If submitted, petition signatures would need to be certified as valid by city elections officials and the certification approved by the Patterson City Council.[4]
