An effort to recall Mayor Todd Webster and City Councilmember Becky Selbera in Kyle, Texas, from their positions was launched in October 2015. Draft petitions for both officials were submitted to the city clerk's office.[1] As of December 2016, this recall effort appeared to be abandoned and Ballotpedia discontinued active coverage. Recall supporters

Jonathan Miller filed a draft petition against Webster, while Lila Knight submitted a petition against Selbera. The city clerk's office informed Miller that changes were needed on the petition and Miller did not resubmit as of October 19, 2015.[1]

Knight argued for Selbera's recall due to two ethics violations between 2013 and 2015. She argued that Selbera used public resources for her re-election campaign in 2014 and engaged in a conflict of interest with a company seeking a building contract with the city.[1]

Response by Becky Selbera

Selbera claimed that Knight was pursuing revenge for her work in office in an interview with the Austin American-Statesman.[1]

Response by Todd Webster

Webster attributed the petitions to a group of city residents opposed to the city government's policies on growth in recent years.[1]

The city clerk's office had to approve the petition language for circulation before any signatures are collected. Recall supporters would have needed signatures equaling 15 percent of the city's registered voters for each official targeted for removal. The city had approximately 16,339 registered voters in October 2015, requiring approximately 2,451 valid signatures to bring the recall to the ballot.[1]
