An effort to recall John Ackermann from his position as Mayor of Keene, Texas was launched in July 2013. The effort to qualify the recall question for the ballot was, however, abandoned short of going to a vote. Recall supporters indicated they may try again in the future.[1]
Background
The recall effort was being led by Liesl Hoover and the "Petitioners Committee to Recall Mayor John Ackermann." The effort appeared to center around disputes between Ackermann, City Administrator Bill Guinn and Economic Development Director Keith Jilge.[1][2]

In order to have triggered a recall, supporters would have had to gather about 425 signatures (15 percent of the city's registered voters) in the 30 days following their petition filing on July 9, 2013.[1][2]
