An effort to recall Elizabeth Brooke Canada from her position as a selectman for the Town of North Brookfield, Massachusetts, did not qualify for the ballot.[1]
Recall supporters
The recall effort was initiated by North Brookfield residents Herb and Kristi Seymour. In a letter asking residents to sign the petition, "extreme bias for individuals associated with the NB Democratic Town committee over and above the needs of the entire town," "blatant support of immorality," and "constant attempts at shutting down free speech," were listed as reasons for the recall effort.[2]
Recall organizers also sought the recall of North Brookfield Board of Health member Douglas Borowski and the cancellation of a drag performance scheduled for June 24, 2023.[2]
