|Growing up in the humble colonias of Eagle Pass, I learned the value of self-worth regardless of title or financial status.
As a teenager at our family tortilla factory, my parents taught me life lessons that I would take to heart like having a strong work ethic, saving money, helping those in need, and treating everyone with respect.
I also learned that an education opens many opportunities. Now as an attorney, small business owner, and real estate investor, I want to share those experiences to help House District 74 be the best it can be.
- A Voice For All
- A proven leader in the real world, who is not a career politician.
- More than ever, we need someone in Austin who will show up to work and understands the struggles we face on a daily basis as Texans.
Focused on creating an atmosphere that supports economic development to generate high-skill high-paying jobs in the region.
Increase resources for mental health programs focused on early intervention.
Expand vocational, trade school, and career training programs for young adults.
Increase funding for women's healthcare that includes funding for low-income women to have access to cancer screenings and mammograms.
Fight to increase funding for school safety and security programs to protects students and teachers.
Secure funding to provide incentives for medical health providers to serve in rural areas.
Work on securing local transportation dollars to ensure our roads and highways are expanded, rebuilt, and maintained.
The most stark difference is that a State Rep if he/she is doing his job correctly in representing the people, is more in tune with the needs since he/she has to run every 2 years. That allows for more constant communication with constituents to stay atop the needs of the District.
It is crucial to have experience and understand the working aid city and county government which tend to represent the closest forms of government with the people. As City Attorney for most of my legal career I have that experience. Equally important is the knowledge and experience in the real world as a taxpayer, small business owner, real estate developer, and successful professional.
Education by far that includes opening vocational, trade school and career training opportunities.
Also, addressing the needs of rural areas; infrastructure involving telecommunications, roadways, and leading Texas into a new age of growth.
As legislators we will have to find creative ways of doing more with less now that we have to address the new normal of the virus pandemic that has swept the world!
There has to be synergy and the Governor should work closely with those that tend to be closest to Texans and their needs.
Definitely, I am proud to have already established a number of viable contacts with those in office even before I ran. It is thru those relationships that one establishes trust and the ability to be effective when addressing issues important to the state.

Calendars
The first two are extremely important to the needs of House District 74.
The Calendars Committee has control over legislative bills and when they go to the floor. It is the doorway to getting bills passed.
Definitely. As a freshman legislator I will accept any role the senior members feel I am entitled to hold.
Yes. Tracy King. He is fair, honest and truly represents the needs of his constituents. Salt of the earth type of man and never takes himself too serious yet always there for his people.

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
