Lacey Stevens filed a recall petition against Gage County Supervisor Don Schuller (D) on March 1, 2022. Schuller joined the county board after winning the District 6 seat in November 2020. The county had 15 days to certify the signatures.[1]
Recall supporters
Stevens alleged that Schuller broke his oath of office by voting against Second Amendment rights. Stevens has stated that she feels Schuller was not following the wishes of his constituents.[1]
Recall opponents
Schuller gave the following quote in response to the petition:
“ | I took an oath to support the constitution, and the constitution gave us a republic. And, how does someone in Firth learn how a majority of voters in southern Gage County wanted me to vote on resolutions they hadn't read? I still don't know, and I live in the district. And, people know how to reach me.[1][2] | ” |
