Council of State Governments
The Council of State Governments (CSG) describes itself as "our nation’s only organization serving all three branches of state government. CSG is a region-based forum that fosters the exchange of insights and ideas to help state officials shape public policy."
CSG was founded by Colorado Senator Henry Toll in 1933.
It is headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky.
Precursor to NCSL
CSG is the precursor to the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), and continues to share Executive Committee members with that organization.
Funding source
CSG is funded by dues paid to it by the states that belong to it. Additional sources of revenue include publication sales, registration fees, corporate grants and contributions, and investment income.
