Andrew Rice is a former Democratic member of the Oklahoma State Senate, representing District 46 from 2006 to January 15, 2012. While in office, he served as state Senate minority leader.

On October 18, 2011, he announced that he would be resigning from the Senate effective January 15, 2012. Rice stated he would be supporting his wife "in her pursuit of a career opportunity outside the state of Oklahoma."[1]

Biography

Rice earned his B.A. from Colby College (Maine) in 1996 and his M.A. from Harvard University Divinity School in 1999. His professional experience includes being the founder of the Progressive Alliance Foundation which focuses on working with the state of Oklahoma to advance "progressive, fair-minded and constitutional solutions to public policy problems." Rice also started the Red River Democracy Project.

Rice won re-election to the Oklahoma State Senate against Joshua Jantz (R).[2][3][4][5] Neither candidate was opposed in the primary election on July 27, 2010.[6] The election took place on November 2, 2010.
