Don't forget to check out zen-browser-avx2-bin if your CPU supports avx2 for better performance!

@Larvey, no problem. I also made mistake: frustrated I focused only on clicking links in one program: it was Guake Terminal emulator, and seems the problem is somewhere there. I opened Tilda or XFCE Terminal and the problem DOES NOT exist. Sorry for bothering with the issue with some 3rd party malfunctioning. Anyway #1, I still don't know how to fix it, but until now Guake was the best functioning drop down terminal here. Anyway #2, I'm happy to find the source of the problem. XFCE has some unsolved problems too, eg. can't run apps from desktop activators, always stopping at permissions to run... but that's another different thing...

@rafnov Sorry, it seems I misunderstood what the devs told me. Going back I realized they meant that adding --new-tab to the .desktop would not fix the issue, not that --new-tab was not a valid argument. That's my bad.

Either way, I'm not entirely sure what is causing the issue. The .desktop file is from upstream. I have tested multiple links, by right clicking them and clicking open in new tab, or by middle clicking them, and they always open in a new tab. The only thing I can think of is something is wrong with your DE and its not realizing that zen-alpha.desktop = zen-browser.

Reach out to me via Discord if you want to talk about it more

@Larvey, interesting. Try: zen-browser --help|grep new-tab. Invoking from terminal: zen-browser --new-tab <url> opens new tab with <url> in opened already window. When any Zen window is closed that command opens previous session with new tab with <url>. So... upstream does not know what is talking about...? But I'm pretty sure it's their thing, although going to inquire some xdg-open things in my spare time. Do you think it does make any sense? I'm on XFCE and tested URLs was from channels opened in Weechat. Do you think it has something to do with the issue I experience? I think it should not have.

In reply to rafnov, the new tab thing was spoken about in the discord. This doesn't seem to be an issue on multiple systems. The developer also stated that --new-tab is not a valid argument (to their knowledge).

Unsure what would be causing the issue as I cannot reproduce it. The .desktop file is synced with upstream so if any issues are occurring its an upstream thing.

There is a flaw in oppening link, when I want it to open always in new tab, it always opens in new window. Even after modifying .desktop file to Exec=/opt/zen-browser-bin/zen-bin --new-tab %u it always opens new window with 2 tabs: 1. is file:https:///home/rav/%u 2. is proper link content. How to fix? Upstream or Arch thing? I'm on XFCE.

Great idea with a browser, but devs are not very open minded if we talk about freedom of choice. Check that: https://docs.zen-browser.app/faq and that: https://github.com/zen-browser/desktop/discussions/2177 and possibly support me in the poll.

Very great, the browser is still improving; I’m using it as my main one. It's a great competitor to the Arc browser.

Glad to hear its working lol. Unsure why it was delayed, may have been due to the switch from zen-browser.desktop to zen-alpha.desktop
