I literally have zero complaints about this show. I've rarely seen a sweet, fantasy romance about princes and kingdoms and fluffly things done so right. Of course its naive - there are beutiful princes and retainers and shiny swords all over the place. It's a fairy tale for crying out loud. It's supposed to make u feel warm and fuzzy. Unless its the Grims. Or Rodari. Hmmm. Might have to revisit this coment some time later...

Harmless show. Nothing of great to note... the animation is passable, the story is okay, and the characters and the interactions are okay too.

I guess my complaint would be that it doesn't go one way too far, and stays too safe. Which is fine, not every show needs to go all the way with its themes, but this one didn't seem to have one. Was it Shirayuki's independence? Because that kinda falls flat after she meets the prince. Was it how the prince was an asshole and was changed by Shirayuki? Not quite that either, Zen wasn't a horrible guy at the start either. Was it about subtle racism and being ostracised? Not quite that either, because it didn't delve into Shirayuki's red hair other than 'it's unique'.

So, yes. Harmless, but not something I'd recommend. There's better sweet shows, and there's better fantasy shows.

I wonder about the shoujo (only) tag. As a seinen/shounen male person i liked this series a lot. Doesn't matter i guess....

@orionstar2k10 > S2 can have more drama: War <or> Ambush/Injury <or> Plague <or> other sickness &&& a lot of dead people & tragedy. Just my idea of spicing it up a notch.

The manga was published originally in LaLa DX and later in LaLa. Both are shoujo magazines; this is as shoujo as a series can get.

Must be my: shoujo means everything is sparkly complex that made me misunderstand that in my mind.

A nice adaptation of the manga thou in this case I find the manga to be better, they chose some of the more action oriented chapters for the anime which is a good move but leaves out some nice moments, also, it was a bit melodramatic at times with the twinkling eyes and the over emotional voices.
Still, it's it was a very nice watch and recommended for those who like romance and more so to those who didn't read or plan to read the manga.

Episode 18 was so nice, a lot of desparation in trying to rescue shirayuki but everyone working their hardest.

Also isnt about time they teach Shirayuki abit of self-defence she always seems to be kidnapped by somebody

While the almost episodic 'someone fucks with Shirayuki' plotlines get old rather fast, her and Zen's chemistry is excellent and the supporting characters do their jobs admirably.

Expected more from a shoujo show. If romance then something great like in Inu x Boku or Lovely complex, but this show goes very steady and smooth. And fluffy stuff were done better in Kimi ni todoke: little sparkles are pretty, but sharp, not fluffy; bubbles are fluffy. Graphonium was great, is Shinkai secretly among the staff?

I normally don’t watch shoujo. Only if it’s very well rated, has mostly positive critics and is recommended on a con or directly to me. Thanks to that, I have not seen a bad shoujo anime yet
This was no exception. Definitely not what I am used to, but it was a breath of fresh air. I liked how it was dramatic enough to keep our attention, but not too much to depress the viewer. The same goes for romance. It was clearly there, yet not so much that it would overshadow other aspects or feel forced or unwanted. Finally, the main motive of a simple, kind girl whose kindness and skills are recognized and nourished is heart-warming and makes you simply happy while watching this series.
What doesn’t really compliment the show is that it has no real climax. It is probably saved for the second half/season, but that is not a valid excuse for not making any effort to nicely close up this part (or at least giving it that feel).
