Here comes another Mahou Shoujo anime, Shugo Chara. Well, i shouldn't call it another Mahou Shoujo anime because it isn't. This is Shugo Chara, the oddly addictive show that I've come to respect and hate at the same time.
Animation: Animation was not bad. In one episode, I remember it was animated like a movie, i was like wtf? So i went online to check why that episode was animated so well and apparently, the animators had alot of free time lol. Anyway, the animation was pretty good, drawings by peach pit so that's always a plus.
Sound: I loved the Shugo Chara ops and eds, the ops more than the eds. BGMs were kinda overused but the INTs were definitely good.
Story: Here is where Shugo Chara lacks. Shugo Chara's story is just a standard search and find plus a search for self. The main characters search and find the embryo while amu slowly realizes her true self. not much innovation here, but either way it isn't a bad plot.
Character: Here is where Shugo Chara exceeds. Every character was great. Each character has his or her own characteristic that makes them likeable, except for mos of the antagonists. The characters are the main reason why Shugo Chara succeeds in making the series enjoyable. The characters were on the other hand, somewhat not original, hence why it doesn't deserve a 10.
Value: Shugo chara isn't really rewatchable but it was great for the time spent watching it, except for fillers. The fillers were complete trash, they used the same exact plots. X-eggs, purification, thanks Amu, i'll befriend you now and realize my dream! uh...wait wasn't there an orange jumpsuit kid like that?
Enjoyment: Absolutely great, there wasn't a moment, during the non-filler episodes, that i regretted watching this series.
In closing, Shugo chara is a love-hate anime. You can either love it for its characters or you can hate it because its plot sucks and the same thing basically happens every episode. I'm one of the people who liked it, and i hope this review will help you be one of the people who like it as well.
