Takahashi Rumiko being the creator of the Ranma½ TV series was not however involved in making this movie and you can even feel it, since the characters are just a mere clones of the original ones. And the clones are quite superficial, more into being a perfect fan service material.
Other than the characters this is a typical Ranma anime with plenty of fighting and arguing, nothing new. Martial Arts contests, a magical spring that turns anything it touches into a man, kidnapping of girls, womens underwear stealing - all this is present.
A major difference however is the location where all the action is taking place - a tropical island with a sandy beach, the sun shines and the climate is warm and guess what all the girls are wearing .
So let's talk more about the girls since the whole anime is mostly built up on them. Compared to other Ranma animes, this one has bigger breasts, longer legs and swimsuits with minimal coverage. It seems that the inner depths of the characters have been converted into silicone which makes it really nothing else than a good fan service anime.
Still, the people cheering for Akane and Ranma will have a reason to celebrate since there is a major development in their relationship, something that you won't see in the TV series.
One thing that this movie is superior in, compared to all the other Ranma animes, is the animation. Especially the outfits, which are catalyzed by shapely girls, look really good.
The action scenes, which are animated quite nicely, are mixed with comedic elements making them even more exciting.
The characters look sprightly and beautiful matching flawlessly with the overall scenery.
However the sound needs an upgrade, voice talents were average but the music was trash in my opinion.
If you liked Ranma½ TV then you should also enjoy Nihao My Concubine, actually I think all will like this one, it's full of fan service and action, first class one night entertainment, at least it was for me.
