Our transducer is taking a long time to compile, and it would be nice to see exactly where it is getting hung up. I would like to be able to run lexd with a --verbose flag to send progress messages to stderr.

For now, we will try commenting things out and then see which part slows it down when it is uncommented.

There are some speed issues that https://github.com/apertium/apertium-lint can diagnose, though that's for things that are particularly a problem in non-flag mode and I don't know how much effect they'd have in flag mode.
