Large Portions Of Both Highway 29 And Nine Mile Projects Open To Traffic
October 14, 2021
Large portions of both the Highway 29 and Nine Mile Road constructions projects are now open to traffic, the Florida Department of Transportation said Wednesday.
All six lanes are now open on Highway 29 between I-10 and 9 1/2 Mile Road. Crews will continue paving work over the next few weeks and then complete final worklist items.
All four lanes of Nine Mile Road between Beulah and Pine Forest roads are also now open to traffic. Crews will continue placing the final, friction layer of asphalt throughout the month of October.

agree on all these comments , we need a group to stop all the big rigs from using Pineforest and west Roberts as a short cut to getting to North HWY 29, WHOEVER is allowing all the housing in this area needs to be fired or held accountable , Pineforest north bound from I10 no matter what time of day is unacceptable
I just have to meet the genius who designed dropping a left lane just as you crest a hill (going north on the “improved” RT 29 coming over the bridge over 9 mile road!!) Are you insane?! Dropping a lane on a blind portion of road ahead…isn’t that like civil engineering 101 for things not to do?? This should be addressed or it will become a bad problem spot fast.
I just wish there was a way to get into Eastern Gate cemetery without becoming a potential customer. Westbound on 9 Mile you have to go past it and make a U turn, eastbound you run the risk of being wrecked because there is no turn in. I don’t understand the positioning of the various cut throughs. Oh well, it won’t be long until there are traffic lights every 100 yards like E 9 Mile Rd.
The intersection at Pine Forest and Robert’s Road doesn’t need a red light, it needs to be eliminated.
Connie that is the fastest growing corner of Escambia county at the moment so it’s definitely going somewhere XD
It would also be great if we could get a light at W. Roberts and Pine Forest as the wait to make a left hand turn can be quite long as this is the new favorite “shortcut”.
Now let’s address some problems with the new road. There is no left turn out of Lowes parking lot. So if you are going to the car wash or the restaurant you can only turn right. Making a left hand turn requires you to go through Lowes parking lot and exiting on Fowler. I just wonder how long that’s going to last possibly until the second or third accident occurs?
This is also true for any of the business on Cove ave. This seems like a gross oversight. Also…
BEWARE OF PUBLIX EXIT ONTO NINE MILE THEY DID NOT REMOVE THE LEFT TURN LANE FROM THE PARKING LOT BUT DID REMOVE THE ABILITY TO TURN LEFT.
That was not an “angry” caps just a “hey I did this and found out the hard way” kinda caps.
To make a left turn at that junction without going through Lowes you either have to make a U turn at Fowler. Or turn left onto Fowler take it down to 9 and a 1/2 mile then another left onto Cove back down to 9 mile to finally make a right turn. This sends heavy traffic through a residential neighborhood and a School Zone!
Sorry @Area Resident the heavy traffic you are experiencing isn’t due to a shortcut it’s due to some pretty pi## poor planning.
Other then that… great job?
Milestone residents still need a traffic signal at Nine Mile Rd. & Stefani Rd. to moderate traffic flow and allow for safer ingress/egress for the subdivision. One other significant item regarding traffic flow, the signal lights at the Hwy. 29 overpass on Nine Mile Rd. are woefully inadequate in maintaining proper flow.
9 mile road the 45 m.p.h. 4 lane to no where
Nice! Now if people will go back to using 9 Mile Road instead of 9 1/2 Mile, it will cut down on unnecessary traffic on a very narrow residential road.
