Affiliations: S.H.I.E.L.D., Colonel Bruce Wayne, Moonwing (Dick Grayson), Sergeant Joe Rock, Colonel Nick Fury

Known Relatives: none

Base of Operations: S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier
First Appearance: Bruce Wayne: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. #1 (April, 1996); Detective Fury #359 (in Amalgam continuity)
Powers/Abilities: Although she possesses no superhuman powers, Black Bat is an accomplished Olympic-level athlete and martial artist. As a high-ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. information specialist, Black Bat presumably has a sharp analytical mind as well as access to the resources and networks needed to gather vast amounts of information and intelligence in short periods of time.
History:
(Detective Fury
#359) - An information specialist and martial arts expert,
the persistent Black Bat chased down her lofty position in the
S.H.I.E.L.D. ranks by carefully making
herself everything the organization needed in a special duties operative
. . . and also everything S.H.I.E.L.D. Director
Bruce Wayne needed in a "partner."
Although the normally stoic Bruce Wayne rarely acknowledged his feelings
for anyone, he found himself susceptible to Black Bat's seductive
stalking.
(Bruce Wayne: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.#1 ) - "Mission: Destroy Hydra!" - As S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft engaged Hydra skipjets in a dogfight above the Green Skull's Hydra Base Omega, Black Bat, Bruce Wayne, and Moonwing (Dick Grayson) were aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier preparing to lead a team of ground troops in for the kill. Before leaping out of the Helicarrier with her jet pack, Black Bat gave Bruce Wayne a kiss for good luck in the mission.
Outfitted with jet packs, Black Bat and Bruce Wayne attempted to stay together so that they could protect the Helicarrier from the incoming Hydra skipjets. But Bruce and Barbara were separated soon after a skipjet made it through S.H.I.E.L.D.'s defenses. Bruce Wayne planted an explosive device on the enemy aircraft but it exploded prematurely, causing Bruce to fall to the ground in a state of unconsciousness. Black Bat attempted to contact Moonwing (who had been deployed to neutralize Hydra's aircraft guns) for help, but there was no response (as he was preoccupied with Deathlok (Jason Todd) at the time).
Later, Black Bat reunited with Moonwing and together they located Bruce Wayne, who had just finished fighting Nuke (Bane Simpson). Lamenting all of the death and destruction of war, Bruce told Black Bat that he was thinking of taking another look at their life. Black Bat questioned if Bruce meant their life together, but her question was left unanswered because the trio stumbled upon Hydra Base Omega and decided it would be better to conduct the assault immediately.
Black Bat, Bruce Wayne, and Moonwing entered the compound and
led a team of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents into the Control Level of Hydra Base
Omega. Unfortunately, the Green Skull (Lex
Luthor) had activated the Planetsmasher Program, a weapon designed
to cause an earthquake that would drop the entire East Coast of the United
States into the Atlantic Ocean, and there was no way to deactivate it.
Black Bat and Moonwing battled the Hydra agent known as
Baron Zero (Wolfgang Von Strucker) while
Bruce Wayne fought Madame Cat (Selina
Luthor). But before they could evacuate, Hydra Base Omega
exploded as the Green Skull watched on from a remote location.

Amalgam characters are

Barbara Gordon is referred
to as "Black Bat" in the
Amalgam Comics Trading Cards Set (Card
#7) while she is referred to as
"Huntress" in
BRUCE WAYNE: AGENT OF S.H.I.E.L.D.
#1. Since there is already another
Huntress in the Amalgam Universe (New
Gotham vigilante and ex-government solo agent Carol
Danvers), I decided to go with "Black Bat" as Barbara Gordon's
official code name and leave "Huntress" as a mere nickname.
In case you're confused, Amalgam Comics didn't really exist beyond those seen in the few DC/Marvel cross-over. The titles you don't recognize are amalgams of similar Marvel and DC comics--Snood.
DETECTIVE FURY is
an amalgam of Marvel's NICK FURY: AGENT OF S.H.I.E.L.D. and DC's
DETECTIVE COMICS
(DC's Batgirl (Barbara Gordon)
debuted in
DETECTIVE COMICS
#359).
S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Bruce
Wayne, who was located within the Control Level of Hydra Base
Omega, survived the explosion at the end of BRUCE
WAYNE: AGENT OF S.H.I.E.L.D.#1. Therefore, it is very likely
that everyone else (or at least the major characters) survived the Terra
Cannon's blast as well.
