Well, modern being a relative term. Current is what I mean ….

picture

It's two poses with the RPG-7/Type 69, six poses of Type 68 assault rifles (the local designation of the AKM), two poses with the RPK, one pose with the Type 73 LMG (a more or less indigenous design) and a squad leader with a Baek Du San pistol (clone of cz 75).

That's a full strength squad in composition and kit out.

As you can see the officer has the soft hat on -- he will get a helmet swap, and all the helmeted poses will get a soft hat swap, so there will be two sets, one in helmets, one in hats. There will be just a few tweaks to these but they are more or less in final form. No plans for female border guards in high heels … yet!

The Ch'onma-ho (the North Korean MBT, a modifed copy of the T-62) will be released a bit further down the line, maybe three months or so. If these take off I'll definitely make more, higher level infantry types (MGs and heavy AT elements, etc), maybe even the Dear Leader himself with some of those bemedaled generals he always seems to hang out with!

We can laugh it up but as the Korean War proved, these fellows mean business and are not infantry opponents to be taken lightly.

Sculpted by the Dear Leader of 15mm himself, Mike Broadbent. I know I have his portrait in every room of my home! Stay tuned for updates, hope to have them available in the summer.

Great idea. Someone needed to make these, and I'm glad it was you!

Good stuff, and can't wait to see it all come together!

khurasanminiatures08 May 2013 4:57 p.m. PST

Thanks Harold -- will probably convert them into Soviet infantry of the mid to late Cold War era as well. It's an easy conversion. The trousers need to be tucked into boots, and some kit is different, but they're mostly there already.

Mako1108 May 2013 5:26 p.m. PST

Excellent!

Norkers are interesting, but Soviets even moreso!

Wow! Where did those come from!?

khurasanminiatures08 May 2013 7:40 p.m. PST

Ripped from today's headlines?

Mako1108 May 2013 7:41 p.m. PST

Yes, on the leaders, and their entourage too please.

Would love to see one each of the three most recent leaders, but then again, perhaps they look so much alike in miniature that one will suffice.

daddyslittlemen08 May 2013 8:06 p.m. PST

I too need a photo of Mike Broadbent in every room of my house!

VonTed09 May 2013 2:59 a.m. PST

Been alot of teasing coming from this company of late. We need order dates!

Twoball Cane09 May 2013 4:39 a.m. PST

Nice. But where's lil kim?

Barks109 May 2013 5:35 a.m. PST

Ooh, nice.

ancientsgamer09 May 2013 5:51 a.m. PST

What the hell happened to the elite chicks in high heels? Dammit man, how can you field NKs without their ultimate weapons?

(I make fun of others)09 May 2013 5:53 a.m. PST

These guys need bull-horned not-gojiras as heavy support, not tanks.

Beautiful ! Can we get some heavy weapons like PKMs and mortars too?

(I make fun of others)09 May 2013 8:55 a.m. PST

They look pretty glum -- feet probably hurt, poor dears.

Cacique Caribe09 May 2013 9:33 a.m. PST

So, these are the ones who should be invading and occupying us soon?

Is anyone working on writing a current version of something like this?

Either for Korea or China?

To quote your president Abraham Lincoln in the 1830s:

From whence shall we expect the approach of danger? Shall some trans-Atlantic military giant step the earth and crush us at a blow? Never. All the armies of Europe and Asia…could not by force take a drink from the Ohio River or make a track on the Blue Ridge in the trial of a thousand years. No, if destruction be our lot we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of free men we will live forever or die by suicide.

republic of tolworth10 May 2013 1:27 a.m. PST

@pr, I feel a nail has been stuck upon it's head.

khurasanminiatures10 May 2013 4:29 a.m. PST

Dennis, would love to! Expansion of the line will really depend on response.

Chatticus Finch10 May 2013 4:58 a.m. PST

Ah the good ol' NorKors… I'd love to see the time spent making some North Korea equipment, especially the tanks and the more unique platforms like their Gatling-gun carrying anti-aircraft tanks.

Of course, doing all this means you simply have to make the Chinese as well… and you can't have the Chinese without talking about the Russians… and the Russians still sell stuff to the Syrians… and Iran supports them…

;)

(I make fun of others)10 May 2013 5:59 a.m. PST

Erm, wouldn't one need South Koreans? Chinese not so much. China will neither be coming to the aid of, nor invading, North Korea.

(Jake Collins of NZ 2)10 May 2013 12:49 p.m. PST

Hehee. Seem to remember Doug MacArthur making the same call once before…you go Porfiro Rubirosa!

khurasanminiatures10 May 2013 2:44 p.m. PST

Well, to be fair, the world is a very different place today than it was 63 years ago! grin

I have to agree that Americans (which I already make) and South Koreans (no immediate plans) are the likely opponents.

Tgunner12 May 2013 4:25 a.m. PST

I'm in John. Maybe not immediately, but later in the summer. I have to get your US troops first.

SirFjodin16 Jul 2013 4:09 p.m. PST

Any news for them? I really need to buy them. I already have tank and apc painted and wait for grunts ;)

khurasanminiatures16 Jul 2013 5:11 p.m. PST

They needed a bit more work but now are at the casters and I hope they will get to them right after historicon.

I'll also be making the Chonma-ho (modified T-62) and the BTR-60 clone for the NKs….

Uesugi Kenshin Supporting Member of TMP17 Jul 2013 10:37 a.m. PST

Congrats on taking the initiative on this. A cool line.

Looking forward to seeing company heavy weapons (if sales go well).

Cacique Caribe17 Jul 2013 11:10 a.m. PST

Any plans to make HS kids for them to fight?

I've actually got a commission being worked on now for

1) four modern teenagers, armed (boy with shotgun, boy with pistol, girl with bow, girl with hunting rifle)

2) four unsanctioned-alien hunters, two male and two female, in trench coats and body armour

3) two bailed out mecha or fighter pilots, one male and one female

Should be sculpted within a few weeks. On the teens, they are being made to be about five foot two or three, so up to about the chin of most 15s. At least, that's the plan! We'll see how they come out. (If they are popular I'll make more, as planned for the scientist set and the sci fi civilian set.)

Cacique Caribe17 Jul 2013 12:57 p.m. PST

Oooo, can't wait for those teens! Got a lot planned for them.

SirFjodin05 Aug 2013 5:17 a.m. PST

The funny thing in recent Red Dawn is that in original script America was invaded by China, but during the filming all Chinese flags were digitally changed to North Korean. So now teens fight North Korean soldiers in Chinese uniform :) ;) ;0

And here are North Korean MBT and APC in await for Khurasan North Korean infantry. The funny thing, I painted s squad of Koreans using Peter Pig soviets, but when I saw that Khurasan are making proper north Koreans, I repainted mine in Soviets :)

Golan207203 Jan 2014 2:45 a.m. PST

I think that in their pillbox hats they'll make fine Arstotzkans (from the computer game papers, Please):

Those teens and civilians sound like an easy sell.
